Dr. Conyers is currently the chairperson of the NWPC Research Working Group. Her primary research interests include (a) understanding the vocational training and employment needs of individuals with HIV; (b) HIV/AIDS-related employment discrimination; and (c) exploring the relationship between work, health and prevention of HIV. Dr. Conyers work is grounded in Social Cognitive Career Development Theory and participatory action research. She has been a presenter at more than 46 conferences and published 37 manuscripts. She co-edited a special issue of the Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation on HIV and Employment issues and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Rehabilitation. She was the recipient of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education 2004 Rehabilitation Educator of the Year award and the 2005 Rehabilitation Researcher of the Year Award. She was also named a 2005 Mary Switzer Scholar by the National Rehabilitation Association for her research on HIV/AIDS and employment issues. In 2007 she was awarded a Mary Switzer Fellowship by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).
